I’d like to share with you a story, one with a sad beginning and happy ending. Just the kind of endings we like!
Can you imagine being so horribly embarrassed by your loose dentures that it stops you from enjoying life? This is exactly what was happening a lovely lady who came to see me recently.
“Pav, I need your help” she told me. “I’ve had missing teeth for a long time now and I’m now at the point that I can’t tollerate my false teeth anymore. They are just constantly loose and the only thing they’re good for is eating either soup or mashed potatoes. This problem has been building for a while but it’s gotten pretty bad over the last 15 months. I’ve not been out for a meal with my husband in nearly a year and we used to go out every week! Can you help me?”
This is a common problem that people approach me about. I’ve seen people who struggle with their dentures, others who taken them out to eat and others who simply do not wear them. These people often have their lives put on hold and are upset that they cannot enjoy life to the fullest.
We decided to place some artificial tooth roots to which we could anchor a new set of fully functional teeth. What this meant was that her dentures did not twist and was not loose, giving her freedom she had not experienced for years.
I was absolutely delighted when at a later appointment, I was told “Pav, I can’t thank you enough. Not only can i eat my favourite foods, but my husband and I are going out for our meals again at restaurants I thought I would never see again. I had completely forgotten how much I enjoyed going out!”
To make this type of impact really does make me feel good about the services we provide. If you have or know of anyone who suffers with loose dentures ask them to give us a call to chat about what it is that concerns them
