In the past, orthodontic treatment was an uncomfortable and lengthy process. The Invisalign® Treatment Process
Although Invisalign® is often referred to as “invisible braces”, the system is actually not braces. Instead of brackets and wires, Invisalign® uses a series of plastic aligners that are fitted to the patient’s mouth and gradually reposition teeth over time. Each aligner is worn for two to three weeks before the patient switches to the next aligner in the series. Ideally, the patient is able to wear each tray for 22 to 23 hours per day, taking the tray out to eat and when brushing teeth. Though the plastic is thin and clear enough to be nearly unnoticeable, it is very durable and forces the teeth to shift over time.
The Invisalign® treatment process starts with a consultation between Dr. Pavandeep Khaira and the patient, during which the doctor answers any questions and takes a mould of the patient's teeth. We send this mould to Invisalign® for analysis and construction. Then, it is simply a matter of wearing them every day. The entire process usually takes, on average, 7 to 15 months to complete; though some of our Invisalign® patients – who come to us from Doncaster, South Yorkshire, Sheffield, and around the U.K. – attain their desired results earlier. Many of our patients choose to enhance the results of their Invisalign® orthodontics treatment with porcelain veneers or teeth whitening.
