Porcelain Crowns/Bridges

Dental Bridges and Porcelain Crowns — At Our Doncaster, South Yorkshire Dental Spa

Bridges and crowns are restorative dental fixtures designed to improve both the appearance and function of a patient’s teeth. If a tooth is broken, we can use the CEREC® system to design and mill a porcelain crown in a single visit that looks and feels natural, and improves the patient’s quality of life. If you have a missing tooth, Dr Khaira can assess your suitability for a dental bridge. Dental bridges are cemented in place and are a fixed solution for missing teeth. We use the finest materials and technicians to ensure your bridge blends seamlessly with your smile. Dr. Pavandeep Khaira, at Red Sky Dental Spa, is the premier dentist for dental bridges and porcelain crowns in Doncaster and all South Yorkshire.  When working with a world class technician, your crowns should look completely natural.  Can you guess which are natural teeth and which are crowns below?

Why Porcelain?

Porcelain is known for its strength and durability. When bonded to a tooth, it can handle the pressure of a person’s powerful jaw muscles without cracking. It is not only a functional material; another important property of porcelain is its translucence. Mimicking the natural appearance of tooth enamel, the porcelain in a dental restoration allows some light to pass through and reflect off the tooth underneath. The end result is that the patient’s teeth look natural and can withstand the wear and tear of everyday life. Red Sky Dental Spa offers long-lasting porcelain crowns and dental bridges at our Doncaster, South Yorkshire location that are custom made for each patient.

Porcelain Crowns

A porcelain crown is a dental fixture placed on the top of a tooth that has decayed or has been cracked or otherwise damaged. Using special cement to bond the crown to the top of the tooth, our dentist can create a new chewing surface, and protect the existing tooth from further damage. A porcelain crown functions as well as or better than a natural tooth and is virtually indistinguishable from the surrounding teeth. If the damage to the tooth is extensive, our staff may advise removing the tooth and placing a dental bridge or implant.

Using the CEREC® system, Red Sky Dental Spa can create porcelain crowns in just one office visit. Before, patients used to have to wear a temporary crown for a week or more, which often fell off. During the appointment, we can take a detailed picture of the teeth that need crowns, then create a digital image of the porcelain crowns that will go on top of them. We can then mill it right in our office while the patient waits, and place it using dental cement. The entire procedure takes only one visit, and the porcelain crowns we are able to create are both functional and beautiful.

Dental Bridges

Dental bridges are used to replace missing teeth. Anchored to the teeth on either side of the gap, these porcelain fixtures function as well as natural teeth and look just like the teeth surrounding them. A dental bridge is basically a porcelain replacement tooth, fixed to the natural teeth with porcelain crowns. They take very little time to complete, and creating and placing dental bridges at our Doncaster, South Yorkshire office can restore your chewing function and confidence.

Dental bridges are helpful not only because they allow patients to chew, talk, and brush normally, but also because they keep the natural teeth from shifting. Often, if there is a gap from a missing tooth, the existing teeth will move towards the newly created space, causing a variety of functional and aesthetic problems. Dental bridges prevent this from happening and keep the patient’s smile healthy and beautiful.
