What Is Juvederm®?

Juvederm® is made of a purified form of hyaluronic acid, a substance found naturally in the human body. A major reason skin becomes wrinkled and loses elasticity as people age is the depletion of naturally occurring hyaluronic acid, collagen, and fat that keep the skin smooth and supple. Juvederm® works by restoring volume under the skin in needed areas, filling in wrinkles and lines and giving the skin a more youthful appearance.

The Juvederm® Procedure

After an initial consultation to determine the patient’s needs and goals, the patient is administered a mild local anesthetic in the area where he or she will receive Juvederm® injection. The doctor then administers the dermal filler using prepared syringes with extremely fine needles. The number of injections will vary from patient to patient; each person’s needs and each person’s goals are different. The entire Juvederm® treatment usually lasts from 15 to 30 minutes, after which the patient is able to return to regular activities. Here is an example of lip definition

How Long Do Results Last?

The results of a treatment with Juvederm®, for most of our Leeds, Sheffield, and Doncaster, South Yorkshire, patients, last from six to twelve months. After that time the body begins to break down and absorb the hyaluronic acid, a process which is natural and completely safe. One of the newest cosmetic procedures available, cheek and nose reshaping with Juvederm® can greatly enhance the results of a smile makeover or other cosmetic treatment.
