Many people think dental implants are as easy as placing an implant into the bone. This simply isn’t the case!
In order to place implants correctly, we actually decide what we want the finished product to look like and work backwards from there. A difference of 0.5mm can be the difference between success and failure.
My mentors have also taught me how to use the intelligent drilling protocol for when we place implants. Everyone is different and everyone has different bone types which can also vary from the front of your mouth to the back and top jaw to bottom jaw.
The intelligent drilling protocol is designed to help improve the success rates of implant placement. I do this by getting tactile feedback when we are getting ready to place the implant and alter the placement sequence slightly.
It’s actually more technical than this, the point I want to get across is that I always strive to provide the best treatment for my patients, even down to the tiniest of details. Not all implants are the same and even if they are, how you place them makes a big difference too!
