Using advanced implant dentistry techniques, we have placed hundreds of dental implants for Doncaster residents and Sheffield, Leeds-area patients.
To place dental implants, the dentist first inserts a small titanium post in the patient’s jawbone, making sure that it seats tightly. Due to the unique properties of titanium, over a period of weeks or months the jawbone will actually bond to the metal post in a process called ossification. After ossification has firmly fixed the dental implant’s titanium post within the jaw, the dentist can attach a custom-made ceramic tooth to the post, effectively creating a new, permanent tooth. Though a few months are typically necessary to complete the process of placing dental implants, most of our patients are willing to wait for the permanence and quality of our implants.
Because they are anchored to the jawbone, as opposed to the teeth around them, dental implants can be expected to last 30 years or more. Also, dental implants maintain the spacing between the natural teeth - when a tooth is missing, the surrounding teeth shift toward the gap.
