How do you find biting into an apple? A challenge? Impossible even?
If you’ve got problems with a full arch of missing teeth or feel that your smile would benefit from a confidence boost, then a mouth of brand new rock solid teeth could be for you.
I often see patients who are unhappy with their teeth, feeling restricted by a liquid diet and longing to be able to eat solid foods again.
Here at the Red Sky Dental Spa we help to transform peoples’ lives by giving them their teeth and their smiles back, from one tooth to a whole mouth.
What are dental implants and how can a full arch help?
Dental implants are titanium metal rods which are placed into the jaw to support one or more false teeth. Together these are known as ‘implants’. A full arch of teeth can be fixed into place using just a few dental implants.
Full arch implants usually involve a lot of preparation and are fitted using highly advanced techniques.
Once fitted, you will be able to clean around them as you would your own teeth. They look natural and many people feel they have their chewing power and their confidence back.
Your dentist will be able to assess your suitability for implants.
How long does the procedure take?
Treatment times vary and often depend on the complexity of your case. We could be turning your life around in anywhere between two and eighteen months.
We high quality dentistry, not fast dentistry; we work with precision to deliver the highest quality rock solid dental arches, leaving you with a lasting smile.
This kind of dental work can last for an incredibly long time and I have seen many patients who’ve had this type of work done over 25 years ago and their teeth are still rock solid!
Why it’s worth it
A smile can transform lives. Everyone I’ve talked to has mentioned the impact it has had on their lives. I have seen people who hated their teeth beforehand falling in love with their smile after treatment.
After the procedure, it’s important to look after your new smile with a good oral hygiene routine. We will show you how to clean your teeth and provide the professional care you would expect with your own teeth.
If you think your confidence could benefit from a beautiful new smile, give us a call us on 01302 325 678 to arrange a complimentary consultation with our treatment coordinator to discuss dental implants and the options available to you. You can even view video testimonials of our patients who’ve had their lives transformed!

Do you want a beautiful smile, but feeling unsure of how to achieve it? False teeth may be one option, but dental veneers are a better way to recreate the surface of your teeth to create a strong and stunning set of teeth.
One of the many benefits of veneers are that they can help your teeth to look great, especially if you have big, ugly fillings which don’t match your natural tooth colour, or if your teeth are the wrong shape.
At the Red Sky Dental Spa, Dr Pav Khaira and the team here can easily adjust the shape of your teeth so that your smile looks fantastic. It doesn’t take very long to do and it all depends on the complexity of how many teeth you have. With same day veneers, you can even have a new smile in a day.
When it comes to applying veneers, the process can take as long as is required to ensure the veneers are bonded onto your natural teeth and look and feel incredibly strong and long lasting.
A world class smile
There are dozens, if not hundreds of materials which veneers are made from. At the Red Sky Dental Spa, we ensure to use only the best materials and world class technicians to give the best results. Some popular choices include composite or porcelain veneers. Porcelain veneers tend to be longer lasting.
If you have existing veneers which do not look natural, or teeth which are misshapen, or have large fillings which do not blend well, then you are a good candidate for dental veneers.
If you’re interested in this procedure, give us a call on 01302 325 678 to arrange a free consultation with our treatment coordinator. You can see examples of our work even see video testimonials of people who have had them placed, to give you peace of mind.

Are you having problems with loose dentures? I often encounter patients who are looking for an alternative to a set of slipping teeth, which are often the cause of much embarrassment.
All these people want is to get the look and function of a natural set of teeth and be able to chew foods again. If this sounds like you, then don’t worry, you’re not alone.
Dentures traditionally allow you to chew any food you like and should be fitted securely in the mouth, without them moving. As they are fully functional, it means you should be able to bite into a crunchy apple and eat it without any problems. If you’re struggling to do this, then this could be what is considered a loose denture.
As good as natural teeth?!
Loose dentures can be the bane of many people’s lives, especially when they aren’t secure and start shifting around in your mouth. If this sounds familiar, then there is something you can do about this.
At the Red Sky Dental Spa, we offer a variety of procedures which can help to stabilise your teeth. We know that dentures will always get looser over time and that they only give about 10% of the chewing ability of natural teeth. At some point, even with the world’s best dentures, you may start to have trouble with them.
In my time as a dentist, I’ve seen many patients who thought they would never be able to eat again after years of living on a liquid diet. But after coming to me, I’ve given them the power to eat absolutely anything they want. Thanks to advanced techniques and the use of implants, we can screw your dentures firmly into place – permanently. It really will feel like you’ve got your own teeth back!
How many implants you will need will depend on numerous factors, including how many teeth you have left and how good your jaw bone is for example. If you have jaw joint pain for example, other issues might have to be taken into account when it comes to this procedure.
What does the procedure involve?
The dental implant procedure usually takes around an hour or two, depending on how many implants need to be placed. The procedure is often carried out with sedation so you won’t be aware of what’s going on. Even if you have no natural teeth left, it doesn’t mean you are stuck with dentures.
Many of my great denture success stories have been achieved in helping those who have none of their natural teeth left – so, even if you’ve been in dentures for years, you can be helped.
If you’re interested in getting your dental implants stabilised, give Red Sky a call on 01302 325 678 to arrange an appointment where we can discuss further.
I hope this helps you to understand a little more about dentures and how they can be stabilised should they start to feel loose or slip around. Here’s to your teeth!

Pav

Do you ever look at someone’s smile and wish you could laugh along with it? Is something holding you back? Don’t let it get to you. You too can have the beautiful pearly whites that you deserve thanks to teeth whitening.
A common dental procedure, teeth whitening can make your teeth look fantastic and is completely safe when carried out legally and safely by a qualified dentist or a member of the dental team who has received appropriate training.
At the Red Sky Dental Spa, we offer a number of tooth whitening procedures which can take you to a gorgeous white, dazzling smile or simply brighten them up a little to improve their colour.
Tooth whitening can help to treat a range of staining and discolouration problems and thanks to advanced techniques, even the most stubborn teeth which were historically thought to be impossible to whiten can now be whitened thanks to these advances in technology.
The tooth whitening procedure
We don’t do whitening quickly, we do it safely. You need to be patient and persistent, but the results for both your teeth and confidence are totally worth it.
Using a revolutionary deep tooth bleaching system, we can remove dark stains from teeth which are heavily stained by coffee, tea, wine or tobacco. The procedure is relatively painless and although some mild sensitivity is normal, you can go back to your normal lifestyle within a few days of finishing the procedure.
How long do the effects last
The effects of tooth whitening generally last for around 18 months. With advanced techniques you can maintain your whiteness at home and very effectively too, especially if you have a good oral hygiene routine and take good care of your teeth.
The good news is you can either get natural results or a dazzling bright smile, depending on your preference. But the results will be all yours and you won’t have to worry about it looking too white or obvious, for example having your teeth look like Simon Cowell!
We have a lot of control over the tooth whitening procedure we have in place and we can easily stop whitening the teeth when you are happy with the level of whiteness your teeth have reached. If your teeth are less than white, laugh it off – your bright whites are only a phone call away.
So if you’re looking to have your teeth whitened, why not give us a call on 01302 325 678 to see if we can help? One of our friendly members of staff is waiting to take your call.

Feeling as though your smile is leaving you ‘invisible,’ or perhaps you have crooked teeth bringing you down?
If you feel that you could benefit from having a straighter looking smile, then I feel that Invisalign could be the right choice for you.
Invisalign is a clear set of aligners worn over the teeth, as an invisible and quick way to straighten a number of dental problems including crowded teeth, gaps, crooked teeth and more.
It’s a modern solution to traditional orthodontics and the dreaded ‘train track’ style braces which cause so many people anguish.
How invisible is invisible?
If you really don’t want people to know you’re wearing braces, this is the most suitable option as it lets you get the smile you want without anybody having to know that you are wearing a brace.
While it’s not ‘invisible’ it’s clear and very hard to detect. Infact, over 93% of our patients tell us that the only people who know they are wearing braces are those people they have told.
Invisalign is very comfortable to wear, although you may experience minimal discomfort for about a week. Most people report having no major problems, and Invisalign is one of the most comfortable and hygienic braces available.
Compared to traditional forms of orthodontics, Invisalign is easier than having a brace fitted as you can remove the aligners any time to eat, drink, brush and floss your teeth.
Your invisalign braces will be prepared by taking a special mould of your teeth, which will be sent for computer analysis.
Invisalign aligners are then manufactured and we fit them back in our practice. Fitting normally only takes 20 minutes.
Is Invisalign right for you?
In most cases Invisalign is a good choice, however it depends on your individual case. On average, simple cases can only take around 4-6 months, while really complex cases can take around 2 years. Average treatment time is usually 9-12 months.
If you have problems with your teeth or prefer not to take your braces out, other forms of orthodontics such as the Inman Aligner or Six Month Smiles may be a better option. However, Invisalign creates stunning results if used correctly.
Many of my patients tell me just how much they love Invisalign because it lets them get on with their lives without drawing attention to their dental work.
It’s great to see them during the process and see them smiling as their confidence increases over time!
If you think your confidence could benefit from a beautiful smile, give us a call us on 01302 325 678 to arrange a complimentary consultation with our treatment coordinator to discuss Invisalign or any of our other orthodontic treatments.

The answer is your SMILE of course! Take a look at the one above. Can you tell she’s wearing a Six Month Smiles brace?! Everyone loves a straight smile as it can frame a face and give a naturally beautiful look. But if your smile isn’t so straight, you now don’t have to wait that long to see the results.
At the Red Sky Dental Spa we offer Six Month Smiles as an evolutionary step forward when it comes to how we deal with crooked teeth. For the right people, crooked teeth can be straightened and a gorgeous smile can be seen in just as little as six months.
Whilst the concept of fast braces has been around for decades, it has recently been refined as studies have shown basic wear of the brace and lifelong retention is more important. With this in mind, Six Month Smiles concentrates on cosmetically aligning the teeth and ensuring lifelong retention afterwards.
The Six Month Smiles Procedure
After an initial assessment to see if the procedure is right for you and to check for suitability, an appointment is later made where the Six Month Smiles braces are fixed onto your teeth. After this you would require a check-up every four weeks or so just to check on the braces. The average treatment time is between 4-9 months with six months being the average, hence the name.
Why choose Six Month Smiles?
Six Month Smiles is designed to enhance your smile, whilst making the treatment itself look invisible. This is because tooth coloured brackets are used as opposed to silver ones, making it more pleasing to the eye.
Six Months Smiles uses the same orthodontic mechanics as traditional braces, but unlike the metal kind, it’s more comfortable because it uses low forces to move the teeth and so the emphasis is on the cosmetic appeal of your teeth, rather than the bite.
However, this doesn’t affect the level of discomfort that your teeth will feel as it’s generally the same regardless of whether you wear a traditional brace or decide to opt for the Six Month Smiles braces.
What to expect
There are no short term consequences to having the Six Month Smiles procedure and there is even evidence to show that it can be BETTER for your teeth. This is because Six Month Smiles uses low force wires.
Studies have shown that high force wires used for a long time can actually cause damage. Whilst low and even high force wires used over a short time is noted for doing significantly less damage to your teeth. So not only do Six Month Smile braces give you beautiful looking teeth in a relatively short space of time, but they can also be to the benefit and protection of your natural smile.
If Six Month Smiles sounds of interest to you, why not give us a call to arrange a complimentary consultation with our treatment coordinator. To discus with us in more detail, please call 01302 325 678.

If you’re after a smile fit for royalty, you’ll want it to look as natural and as beautiful as possible without taking all the time in the world.
The good news is that you can now have all the protective benefits of dental crowns without the need for impressions or temporary crowns.
One visit to the dentist along with a tooth coloured filling could be all you need with CEREC – a system which creates customised dental crowns.
There are many benefits to having dental treatment done using the CEREC machine, but by far the greatest benefit for patients is that it allows for less time off work, fewer injections and fewer problems with temporary crowns between appointments.
There’s also the added benefit of not having to undergo any unpleasant impression taking to ensure the dental crowns are produced properly.
At the Red Sky we replace old, broken silver fillings for crowns which are matched to the colour of your teeth whilst being incredibly strong and long-lasting.
We can even do a smile makeover in a day!
During a CEREC procedure
The teeth are prepared and a digital photograph is taken of the tooth. CAD/CAM technology is used to mill an incredibly precise unit from a solid block of porcelain which is polished and glazed to look beautiful. This is then bonded onto your tooth.
While the tooth restoration is being cut, patients can relax in the lounge. Many of our patients find this to be a very low stress procedure as a result.
Compared to traditional crowns, CEREC looks natural and the porcelain used is incredibly high quality. Some studies have shown they make for stronger restorations than older techniques.
Smile makeovers with CEREC
CEREC dental crowns will look as good as a traditional restoration and can be used to give a smile makeover in a day, with artistry which gives the smile a natural and beautiful look.
If you feel that your teeth could benefit from a CEREC restoration, why not give us a call on 01302 325 678 to arrange a complimentary consultation with our treatment coordinator?
We’d love to hear from you!

A beautiful smile can speak above any language. But what if yours is feeling slightly lost in translation? Perhaps you have a big event like a wedding day coming up, or you’re feeling that your smile could be improved with a little help. Maybe your teeth could be a little straighter or that gap between your front teeth a little closer…if this is the case, then orthodontics could be the right choice for you.
The good news is that you don’t have to suffer wearing a brace for years and being called ‘Metal Mouth’ anymore. The latest innovations in dentistry have seen improvements in this field including the invention of Six Month Braces which are fixed onto teeth, with average treatment time lasting for around six months. Invisalign is another great dental invention, which offers a series of removable clear aligners which gradually help to shape teeth into the desired position.
At the Red Sky Dental Spa, Dr Pav Khaira is a Platinum Level provider of Invisalign braces and a provider of Six Month Smiles, the rapid brace system which utilises clear brackets to help fix crooked, crowded or gappy teeth. What’s great about these methods of straightening your teeth are they are relatively discreet and because they are tooth coloured or clear, no one will be able to tell that you’re actually wearing a brace at all – unless they ask!
Why choose Invisalign?
If you’re looking at your teeth and thinking it would be great to have them straightened but don’t want to have to go through the pain and embarrassment of people knowing you are going through treatment, Invisalign could be the best option for you. These series of virtually clear aligners are otherwise known as ‘invisible braces’.
Comprising a series of plastic aligners which are to each be worn for around 10-14 days, the procedure works by gently and gradually repositioning teeth over time. To ensure you are getting optimum results from the aligners, it’s recommended that you wear them for around 22 to 23 hours a day.
However, you can take them out to eat, drink and brush your teeth. This makes it ideal for those who are conscious about other people being able to tell they are undergoing treatment or who worry they won’t be able to brush and clean their teeth properly. With Invisalign, neither your image nor your dental hygiene are compromised.
For more information about Six Month Smiles or Invisalign, why not give us a call on 01302 810 061 where one of our staff will be happy to give you a complimentary consultation.
Posted on February 10, 2012 in Tooth grinding & Tension headaches

Do you have problems caused by grinding your teeth? Perhaps you get up in the morning not feeling as refreshed as you’d like to; awaking with a splitting migraine and chronic tension across the neck, back and shoulders. Grinding your teeth at night can be the cause, although it can sometimes occur during the day.
It might not seem like it, but these symptoms can all be signs of tooth grinding and jaw clenching – influential factors in causing migraines. Headaches on waking, pain in the temples and the side of your face, neck and shoulders as well as around and behind the eyes, can all be caused by teeth grinding, otherwise known as bruxism.
Treatments for teeth grinding
At the Red Sky Dental Spa, Dr Pav Khaira and The Migraine Care Institute offer a range of methods which can help to alleviate the symptoms of bruxism. Although the condition will never be completely controlled, the effects can be controlled using bite guards which are worn at night whilst you’re sleeping in order to prevent excessive damage. TENS therapy can also be used alongside this bite guard treatment which is designed to help relax muscles and provide a protective effect.
The TENS muscle relaxing unit we use is the Grindcare – effective and simple to use, it’s ideal for people who suffer with bruxism and who feel unrested when they wake up in the morning. These are usually early risers– people who wake up at around 6am. These type of people may find that if they sleep for another hour they wake up feeling even worse! A lot of the time, symptoms like these are caused by bruxism and tooth grinding. Correct treatment of which will help to reduce these problems.
Botox can be another solution, however it’s not as effective as some of our other methods, so it’s not considered a primary method of treatment. Asides from which, a lot of other methods are significantly more effective. Success rates in our practice at managing migraines and headaches is over 90%.
Signs and causes of grinding teeth
Sometimes, you won’t know if you’re grinding your teeth, especially if you clench your jaw, as there will be no sound at all. Your partner may be the one to tell you if you grind your teeth. Sometimes the cause can be a subcortical response, therefore it has no ‘cause’ – it’s just programmed high into the brain and triggered by stress, which can make it worse.
Bruxism can lead to fatigue, headaches and migraines which can have an impact on your performance at work, as well as on your social and family life, which can even lead to depression.
What to do
If you think your headaches, fatigue and tension is a result of grinding your teeth, you should get checked out by your doctor to make sure there is no other causes which could underlie health problems. If you’re still unsure, give us a call and come into our practice for a check-up. Our services are world class and people travel nationally and internationally for treatment.
At the Red Sky Dental Spa, we’ll do our best to help you relieve your bruxism and migraines. After an assessment, we may consider treatment methods such as Botox. However it should never be used as a primary therapy as it’s nowhere near as effective as our other methods.
In some cases, Dr Pav Khaira may not be able to help, depending on your individual case, but we’ll always be honest with you and let you know. In most cases, jaw clenching and tooth grinding is the major influencing factor – despite GP’s and neurologists not always understanding this or offering little advice on this subject.
So if you’re sick of your jaw causing you pain as a result of clicking and grinding, why not give us a call on 01302 325 678 to book a consultation with one of our friendly staff to find out more.
