A lady came to see me a while ago, and her teeth were really affecting her confidence.  I mean that she wouldn’t even look up at anyone.  After chatting with her, she told me that she had always been conscious about her teeth, and she was even bullied because of them when she was younger.  This then meant that she socialised less and would only really go out with close friends.  She found it difficult speaking with new people because she was always aware that they may be looking at her smile.

Treatment times last on average, 12-18 months but it depends on the complexity of the case. Simple cases can take between 6-9 months. The good news is that unlike metal braces, they are also removable and extremely hygienic, so they can be taken out to eat, drink and to clean your teeth. Due to it being clear, most people won’t be able to tell that you’re wearing braces unless you tell them!

You may experience a little discomfort at first when wearing the Invisalign aligners, but this is normal and is genuinely considered to be one of the most comfortable and hygienic braces available on the planet. You will have to avoid hot drinks when wearing the aligners, so as not to distort them and eating is best avoided when wearing them, but as they are removable, you shouldn’t encounter too many problems.

When you receive the aligners, ensure they are worn for 22 hours a day. The rest of the time allocates for taking them out to eat, clean and then put them back in. Everyone can pretty much manage to do this. The great news is you won’t have to keep coming into practice during treatment either, as once you receive the trays, it’s then normal to see you every 3 months or so, which makes it ideal for busy people.

After the treatment is finished, you will need to retain the form and shape of your new teeth to prevent them from gradually going back into shape. However this is true for all brace systems.
