Anger. A healthy emotion.

Everyone thinks of anger as a negative and unhealthy emotion.  This reminded me of a quote by Aristotle;

“Anyone can become angry – That is easy, but to be angry with the right person, at the right time, for the right purpose and in the right way – That is not within everyone’s power and that is not easy”

This made me think that balanced anger is a method to express emotions to someone we care about.  If we don’t care about someone, anger seems to be a fleeting moment and rarely lasts for long.  Only those who can touch us can anger us to this level.  I’ve misdirected anger before, in the wrong way, and the wrong intensity and to those of my loved ones I have hurt, I am sorry.

I often think that we as humans, are quick to REact to a situation and not act.  An act is a deliberate, thought driven process whereas a reaction is a reflex type reaction.  In this fast day and age, we should be even more conscious to take time to think about our acts and words before saying them.  I am guilty of reaction rather than action.  I must work on taking time to think things through before saying or doing them.

It’s interesting how ancient philosophies still resound true today as when they were first uttered to the world
