DR. PAVANDEEP KHAIRA: In the field of facial aesthetics, there are a number of products that we can use to reduce the effects of frown and laughter lines. These products are injected into select sites to produce the desired results.
The product itself is 100% safe to use, and the effects are 100% reversible. The effects, on average, last three to four months.
DR. PAVANDEEP KHAIRA: The Invisalign System offers a viable alternative to train-track braces. The aligners are all clear and offer a very discrete method for straightening your teeth. Treatment times can vary from anything from six months to two years.
DR. PAVANDEEP KHAIRA: The Inman Aligner is a very cutting edge-type brace system which allows for very rapid tooth movement. It’s also a very gentle-type brace system which applies very low, gentle forces to the teeth. Many of our clients are achieving results in as little as six to eight weeks.
DR. KHAIRA: The 6 Month Smile braces, they’re generally very comfortable type braces. There is always a little bit of discomfort involved in any type of brace system that is used. A lot of people say that Invisalign is very comfortable. I would say that 6 Month Smile is as comfortable as Invisalign. And similarly with the Invisalign, all the systems are used. They’re generally very, very comfortable systems.
The cost of the six months smile is dependent on how complex the actual tooth movement required is. But it’s not any more expensive or any more costly than the other brace systems. In fact in a number of cases the 6 Month Smiles can actually be cheaper than the Invisalign system. The key is want needs to be done to achieve the best result.
As with all types of brace systems you have to wear a retainer. And that retainer is pretty much – - . Depending on what type of tooth movement we’ve actually done there will be different types of retainers. And we will, of course, guide you on that. If you don’t wear a retainer your teeth will start to naturally move again. And that is a natural consequence. There’s a lot of people out there who had braces when they were younger and their teeth then start to move when they start to get a little bit older. And that’s a consequence of not wearing a retainer.
So we always say it doesn’t matter what type of brace system you have, whether it’s the Inman aligner , 6 Month Smile, or Invisalign, you have to have some type of retention afterwards. The retainer is generally very, very comfortable. You get used to it very, very quickly. And that will ensure very long lasting results.
A little benefit of 6 Month Smile is that it’s a very fast brace system as well. Treatments are done, on average, between four to nine months, with six being the average. Hence the name the name 6 Month Smile. Another benefit of the system is that it can perform tooth movements that Invisalign or Inman aligner has struggled with. So it’s just another option available for people who’ve been told that they’re not suitable for the Inman aligner or Invisalign. It just gives them another option to help the achieve the smile that they want to achieve.
DR. PAVANDEEP KHAIRA: Dental implants are a solution for people who have missing teeth. The procedure itself involves surgery whereby a titanium screw is placed into the bone. The implant is then allowed a few months to fuse to that underlying bone, and on top we can place crowns, bridges, or dentures. These restorations are very strong and very long-lasting, and can produce beautiful, natural-looking results.
DR. PAVANDEEP KHAIRA: The important thing to remember about veneers is the final result that we want. There is no point preparing the teeth and just taking impressions where we have no idea what the final result is that we hope to achieve. We do it the opposite way around here. We know exactly where we want to go, and plan backwards from there, and that’s how you can create beautiful results. Also, selection of a world-class technician to make sure that your teeth don’t look false and unnatural. When you want to do this type of work, we want it to look very beautiful, very esthetic, and look very natural.
Once the veneers are actually bonded in place, they are very, very strong restorations and they look beautiful and they last a very, very long time.
DR. PAVANDEEP KHAIRA: The CEREC machine is CAD/CAM technology. It allows us to produce porcelain restorations in a single visit. Traditionally, when we make these restorations, we prepare the teeth on a day, take impressions and send that information off to a lab. You then return in a fortnight’s time to have these restorations fitted.
The CEREC machine allows us to do that in a single visit, therefore, reducing the amount of time that you actually need to spend with us.
The other nice thing about the CEREC machine is you get beautiful porcelain restorations which are incredibly well-fitting to the tooth.
MALE VOICE: Is it using the information from the camera to build that tooth?
DR. PAVANDEEP KHAIRA: Yes. You’ve got quite an irregular surface so there’s an even reflection back of the energy that the camera sends out. And it’s extremely accurate. That’s about a thousandth of a millimeter. It means that it designs any type of restoration you want pretty much. Then it sends a message to the main unit outside and cuts it out of a block of porcelain.
DR. KHAIRA: I’ve had a lot of education into different tooth whitening systems where we’re just starting to get some absolutely fantastic results. It’s a nice simple system. It works well. It’s very comfortable. And it’s just a fantastic way of boosting confidence.
I see a lot of people come in to see me and say I, you know, I really want to have a smile makeover done but I’m concerned about this; I’m concerned about that. I say to them why don’t we try whitening your teeth and see how you feel about it. A lot of them have it done and look fantastic. Actually yes, I do want to move on or no, that’s fine; I’m happy with what I’ve had done. Thank you very much. It’s just a fantastic way to boost somebody’s confidence. There’s nothing aggressive that we do. And it’s a fantastic system.
DR. KHAIRA: The key is with smile makeovers is to figure out what to do and work backwards from there so that you’ve got a plan to achieve a really natural looking result. A lot of people think a smile makeover automatically consists of 10-12 veneers. That’s not the right way to do it. A smile makeover isn’t necessarily just braces or just veneers. A smile makeover is what is it that you would like to achieve? Right, now that I understand that here’s what we can do for you. And here is what needs to be done if you want a really natural, long-lasting smile makeover.
We see a lot of people who have had either only braces done or only veneers done and there’s a lot of cutting corners. And that doesn’t, it doesn’t quite look right. There’s a certain method for treatment planning to make sure that whatever we do is not only going to look completely natural, but also it’s going to last a very long time as well.
The best things that my clients say to me is when they come back after they’ve had a smile makeover done and they say to me, have you know nobody knows I’ve had a smile makeover. Everybody thinks these are my natural teeth. And that’s what you want. You don’t want anybody turning around and saying I like your veneers. You always want them to say I love your smile; I wish I had a smile like that.
